National Model Railroad Month

November 1 marks the beginning of National Model Railroad Month, a time when clubs and enthusiasts are asked to share and promote model railroading with people new to the hobby.

The National Model Railroad Association (NMRA), sponsor of the monthlong campaign, is focused on the advancement of the hobby through outreach and other methods of new member acquisition. Their many regions and divisions across the country support the hundreds of clubs that host open houses and workshop events.

Individuals Make A Difference

The future of the hobby depends on the commitment of organizations like the NMRA, but equally important are the contributions of individuals. Each enthusiast has the potential for exposing people in their community to the many facets of model railroading. There is no better way to grow interest in others than by sharing one’s skills, talent and enthusiasm.

Every model railroader can make a difference and ensure that the hobby has a bright future. All that's needed is a willingness to help and an opportunity to share one's passion.

Imagine the benefits of a hobby whose community is growing:

  • New and interesting ideas
  • More chances to share with like-minded individuals
  • Adding variety to modeling styles and practices
  • Better exposure for manufacturing brands like LGB, USA Trains, Walthers, Bachmann, Piko and the rest.
