The return of the Great Train Show to Pomona, California has given residents and visitors one of the best all-scale model railroad events in the area. With this show following The Big Train Show in Ontario every June, Southern Californians get back-to-back opportunities to geek out for all things trains.
The train show is hosted in the world-class facilities at the Fairplex. Model railroad clubs and vendors from around the country are present both days for the enjoyment of kids and adults alike.
It's not surprising that this event attracts serious modelers looking for products or advice for their own layouts.
Toy train collectors buy and sell throughout the day at the many booths the show has to offer. It's a great place to find unique and rare examples of Lionel, Märklin and other brands.
The show is a great place for children. Most of the model layout exhibits are strictly hands-off, but kids will watch in wonder and amazement at the highly detailed models in G, HO, N and Z scale. There are usually a few exhibits that cater to children and allow personal interaction. Additionally, the show has many vendors with toys and trinkets for sale including a perennial favorite train, Thomas the Tank Engine. Expect to spend a couple of hours at the event with your kids.
